National Emergency Broadcast System Test Scheduled for Wednesday, November 9

FYI:

Broadcasting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9 at 12:00 PM MST, the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will air.  FEMA and their national associates will transmit a thirty second alert message as an exercise to ensure effective communication dissemination in the event of a national emergency.  During the test, regularly scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows will be interrupted.

This message is only a test - not a real emergency alert.  The nationwide alert will encompass broadcast stations throughout the United States.

The test is being conducted by FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Thank you for your attention to this important event.  And remember, on November 9 at 12:00 PM MST,  Don’t stress; it’s only a test.

For videos, PSAs, and additional information please, visit FEMA FAQ’s page and the FCC EAS Test page
